Rise to Fall at Hatsudai Doors, Tokyo, Japan on 9th October 2024
Spanish metal band Rise to Fall returned to Japan with a bag full of catchy metal for their Japanese fans. They performed in Tokyo as part of a Spanish tour package featuring Vhäldemar and Bloodhunter.
Formed in Bilbao, Spain in 2006, the band released its debut album “Restore the Balance” in 2010. Rise to Fall performs a modern and catchy type of melodic metalcore. Musically they often wander into the valley of melodic death metal. But these lads are from Spain and not Gothenburg. Thus, it feels a bit more metalcore than death metal. Rise to Fall – Dalay Tarda on vocals, Dann Hoyos and Hugo Markaida on guitars, Javi Martín on bass and Xabier del Val on drums – have plenty of hooks in their catchy yet hard-hitting songs. In addition to being hook masters, this evening in Tokyo, the band members seemed to have a never-ending energy supply.
They opened the Tokyo gig with “Ascend to the Throne” from 2012’s “Defying the Gods” album. The show featured songs from all the band’s five albums, including three of the best tracks from their most recent release, “The Fifth Dimension” (2023): “Hierophant”, “Infinite Crossroad” and “Test of Time”. In addition to the newer songs, the fab tracks “Acid Drops” and “Parasites” were among the set’s highlights. The band enjoyed being back in Japan. And their Japanese fans showed them plenty of love. The band closed the show with “Thunders of Emotions Beating” from 2015’s “End vs. Beginning” album. This was a great evening in the name of Spanish metal.
