Video | Olof Wikstrand of Enforcer: “What makes a good song? Simplicity!”
“What makes a good song? Simplicity! But not so simple that it becomes dumb!” said Enforcer’s Olof Wikstrand when the band was back in Japan.
When Enforcer visited Japan for the fourth time, frontman Olof Wikstrand sat down with Roppongi Rocks’ Stefan Nilsson for a chat. Olof talked about why it has taken nearly a decade to return to Japan, memories from previous Japan visits, still selling physical records in the Japanese market, the impact of having an American bassist in a Swedish band, the logistics of half the band being based in Sweden and the other half in Texas, writing heavy metal anthems and what makes a good song.
Enforcer was founded in Arvika, Sweden in 2004. Over the years with a bunch of excellent albums and relentless global touring, the band has become well-known as part of a new wave of traditional heavy metal. The band debuted with “Into the Night” in 2008 and its most recent release was 2023’s “Nostalgia”. They recently signed with Napalm Records and a new album is being worked on. The band’s current line-up consists of Olof Wikstrand on guitar and vocals, his brother Jonas Wikstrand on drums, Jonathan Nordwall on guitar and Garth Condit on bass.
This interview was filmed in Koenji, Tokyo, Japan on 10th January 2025.
