Venom Inc recruits Curran Murphy to fill in for Mantas
Venom Inc bassist and vocalist Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan has recruited Curran Murphy to fill in on guitar until Mantas recovers from a second heart attack.
British heavy metal icon and legendary Venom guitarist Jeff “Mantas” Dunn suffered a second heart attack on 17th April. Jeff had a first heart attack a few years ago but bounced back and went on to tour and record with Venom Inc. Last year, he sat out Venom Inc’s North American tour to care for his sick wife at their home in Portugal. Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan hired Mike Hickey (ex-Venom, Cronos, Carcass, Cathedral) to replace Mantas on that tour.
Due to his second heart attack, Jeff will not tour with Venom Inc until he has fully recovered. American guitarist Curran Murphy of 72 Legions has stepped up to fill in while Mantas recovers. Curran is best known for his past work with Annihilator and Nevermore. Curran made his live debut with Venom Inc on Sunday 5th May at the Hammersonic Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Jakarta gig was also the live debut for new drummer Marc “JXN” Jackson (Acid Reign, Beyond the Grave) who formerly played with Jeff and Tony in M-Pire of Evil.
We hope that Jeff will make a quick recovery. Until then, we are confident that Curran will be a fine soldier in the Venom Inc army. DemoMan and JXN have found the right bloke for the job. Ave!
