Nestor “Teenage Rebel”

There is nothing rebellious or dangerous about Nestor’s music. This is the nice and clean side of rock music. But it is bloody good.

The Swedish band Nestor plays soft rock. The title of the band’s new album is “Teenage Rebel” but there is nothing rebellious or dangerous about this music. This is the nice and clean side of rock music. But don’t let the niceness fool you. Nestor makes great music. This is music heavily influenced by 1980s radio rock. Music that reminds me of Journey, REO Speedwagon, Night Ranger and Y&T. Music which sees keyboards as important as the guitars. Music your parents won’t complain about. “Teenage Rebel” is the follow-up to the band’s 2021 debut album “Kids in a Ghost Town”. It has some excellent and catchy songs such as “21” and “Addicted to Your Love”. “Daughter” is a piano-driven and emotional ballad while “The One That Got Away” reminds me of Chicago’s “You’re the Inspiration”. The Japanese version of the new album features two excellent bonus tracks: live versions of “On the Run” and “Stone Cold Eyes” recorded at the band’s outdoor summer festival Nestor Fest at  Folkets Park, Falköping, Sweden in 2022.

This rock is clean. Clean, but good. Very good.

Nestor’s new album “Teenage Rebel” will be released on 31st May via Napalm Records internationally and in Japan on 29th May via Marquee/Avalon.
