Jinjer “Duél”

Ukrainian modern metal band Jinjer takes a giant leap forward with the new album.

Jinjer’s music is modern and progressive, hard-hitting groove metal. This is proper multifaceted twist-and-turn metal where you don’t know what’s around the corner.

Jinjer formed in Donetsk, Ukraine in 2008. The arrival of vocalist Tatiana Shmayluk and guitarist Roman Ibramkhalilov made the band something special. In subsequent years, bassist Eugene Abdukhanov and drummer Vlad Ulasevich joined to form a tight musical unit. The musicianship is on a level above and beyond your average metal band. With this new album, the band is moving not one, but two notches up the career ladder.

Lead vocalist Tatiana Shmayluk is a gem. She combines angel-like and yet powerful clean vocals with devilish harsh growling. Her superb vocals set Jinjer apart from many other modern metal bands. Such bands often have great musicians but lack powerful vocals. Jinjer only has one guitarist. But bassist Eugene Abdukhanov adds to the complex soundscape with his five-stringed bass.

The band’s experimental approach to creating new music keeps this interesting and appealing. It is high-energy music that demands and deserves closer attention. Close your eyes and let your ears, heart and brain be fully dedicated to Jinjer’s music. The “Duél” album contains eleven excellent and fresh-sounding tracks. Some immediate favourites that stand out are “Tantrum”, “Kafka”, “Tumbleweed” and “Someone’s Daughter”. The title track which closes the new album is a masterpiece where all band members get to shine.

Jinjer’s new album “Duél” is out now via Napalm Records internationally and Marquee/Avalon in Japan. They will perform a show in Tokyo on 12th February.
