Spiders “Sharp Objects”

Swedish rockers Spiders are back with a new album full of great rock’n’roll.

Spiders’ new album “Sharp Objects” will be released on Valentine’s Day. But make no mistake about it: this is not romantic music. This is rock’n’roll. Music with swagger, dirty boots and worn-out t-shirts. This is music to get laid to. This is a soundtrack for your bedroom or the backseat of your car.

Formed in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2012, Spiders released the band’s debut album “Flash Point” the same year. “Sharp Objects” is the band’s fourth full-length album. They play kick-ass rock’n’roll with hints of Americana popping up (such as the harmonica on the song “Life Mission”) and heaps of garage rock bits and pieces. They have a classic rock sound without sounding retro or dated. They are here and now. They are modern but know their roots. The track “Rock’n’Roll Band” is already a classic song in my mind. Fookin’ ‘ell! “Mess with My Emotions” is also a fab track that grooves its way into my head and gets stuck there. “Love Yourself to Death” is another early favourite.

The band consists of Ann-Sofie Hoyles (vocals), John Hoyles (guitar), Ricard Harryson (drums) and Olle Griphammar (bass). They are currently on tour with The Hellacopters and that makes a lot of sense as the two bands have many overlaps while still being different. They probably share a lot of the same fans.

Spiders’ new album “Sharp Objects” will be released on 14th February via Wild Kingdom.
