Destruction “Birth of Malice”
Destruction’s 16th studio album is a thrash metal carnival that will hurt your neck!
Formed in Germany in 1982, thrash metal band Destruction has evolved into an international quartet of musicians from four countries. The band’s founder Schmier still leads the band from the front as its vocalist, bassist and songwriter. He is joined in the current line-up by Canadian drummer Randy Black (Annihilator, Primal Fear, W.A.S.P.), Argentinian guitarist Martin Furia (Bark, Furia) and Swiss-Bosnian guitarist Damir Eskic (Gonoreas, Gomorra).
The band’s full-length debut album, “Infernal Overkill”, was released in 1985. “Birth of Malice” is Destruction’s 16th studio album. They have also released a heap of EPs, live albums and compilations over the years. On the new album, we get eleven excellent original songs plus a cover of Accept’s classic “Fast as a Shark”. Musically, the band has never been stronger. The fact that the band in recent years have had a raw and fierce dual guitar attack has resulted in some excellent uncompromising thrash metal. Lyrically, Schmier is wading knee-deep into the bullshit that too many people in this world create on songs such as “Scumbag Human Race”, “Greed” and “Evil Never Sleeps”. Never underestimate how shitty mankind can be! Schmier and his merry thrash metal men take no orders as is made clear with the terrific “No Kings – No Masters”.
What an excellent, pummelling and riff-happy thrash metal album this is! Happy headbanging!
Destruction’s new album “Birth of Malice” will be released on 7th March via Napalm Records. The Japanese edition is released on 5th March by Marquee/Avalon.
