Warlord’s co-founder Mark Zonder and his current six-person line-up of the band sat down backstage with Roppongi Rocks’ Stefan Nilsson in Tokyo. Watch the full interview in the video below.
The conversation with Warlord covered topics such as how the band has evolved over the years, the impact of Warlord’s inclusion on Metal Blade’s “Metal Massacre II” compilation LP in 1982, the purpose of stage names (hello, Thunderchild and Dark Matter!), carrying on without songwriter and founding member Bill Tsamis (who passed away in 2021), the possibility of creating new music and much more.
The band’s debut record, “Deliver Us”, was released by Metal Blade in 1983. Its latest album, “Free Spirit Soar”, came out in 2024. Warlord’s current line-up is: Mark Zonder (drums), Giles Lavery (vocals), Jimmy Waldo (keyboards), Diego Pires (guitar), Eric Juris (guitar) and Philip Bynoe (bass).
